Pashkviles, now in Crown Heights, too

Well, the N'shei Chabad newsletter has been harping on this particular problem for years. In fact, when I first visited Crown Heights in 1988, ishaya_gisser who brought me there remarked: "I don't understand why our women and girls are wearing clothes like these." It's now a poster campaign:

It is ridiculous, considering that starting all this at age 3 is most certainly not "the law".

The custom of Israel is the law :) It is very important to wear tzniusdik clothes from age 3 and up. I am proud to say my kids never wear skirts above the knee :)

The sad reality is that pashkvilles in Crown Heights are nothing new. After the Rebbe's passing, there was a tremendous amount of discord and in-fighting. Not only would these posters be hung on posts, but we would get them in the mail- hundred page kuntreisim about why so-and-so is not fit to lick our collective feet, nevermind be the gabbai/secretary/treasurer/community council leader because he does/does not believe the Rebbe is moshiach, etc, etc.

These are one of the few things my husband remembers with disgust about our stay in Crown Heights.
