Just got a letter from our daughter's Beis Yaakov school informing us that they have hired a General Studies principal. She used to be same at Torah Academy of Chicago. Sounds like a nice frum lady.

The letter boasts of her degrees, including a graduate one from Columbia University. Hmm...

Nothing per se - it just illustrates our Boston specifics. Here, unlike some other places, an advanced college degree is considered an asset in an Orthodox school teacher.

She's principal of /general studies/, so an advanced college degree /is/ an asset, isn't it?

By me it is, but there are places where it is believed to be an indication of non-kosher thinking, especially in a woman.
